Calder Bookshop & Theatre | London Theatres

The Bookshop Theatre aka The Calder Bookshop was started in Feb 2011 by a collective of friends who wanted to create their own theatre to put on their own productions, writes Lesley Godbolt.

Today, the not-for-profit shop has a line in quality second hand books, highbrow fact and fiction and literature on plays and performance art.

On Tuesdays a cinema club takes place in the theatre area of the shop, while on other days live performances are held.

Co-founder Luis Gayol tells us the shop is a ‘crazy place’ , which is sometimes jam packed full of lively theatre students, and at other quieter times, sees actors, directors, curious tourists and those with a more serious political agenda browsing the bookshelves.
